Reason: the specific virtual disk needs repair.
Download and install Virtual Disk Development Kit 1.2 http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vddk/
Open cmd.exe
cmd>"C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit\bin\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -R "D:\Virtual_Machines\FreeBSD8.2_release\FreeBSD8.2_release.vmdk"
Hit Enter
The virtual disk ‘path of file’ , was corrupted and has been successfully repaired.
